This heartfelt documentary unpacks the works of a forgotten lesbian artist. A true triumph of creative spirit: Here’s to being seen.
In 1924 Lesbian Artist Edith Lake Wilkinson was committed to an asylum at the age of 57.
Her art and all her worldly possessions were packed up in trunks and shipped off to a relative. Edith spent the rest of her life in asylums and was never heard from again. Edith’s great-niece, Jane Anderson (Emmy-winning writer & director) grew up surrounded by Edith’s paintings and learned to paint and draw under the influence of her great-aunt’s brilliant, light-drenched canvasses.
Come on Jane’s amazing journey and her efforts to find the answers to the mystery of Edith’s buried life and return her work to Provincetown.
